The
Puerto Rico local section of the American Chemical Society
is hosting its first regional meeting. We want to showcase
the dynamic, cutting-edge work of our neighbors south
of the border with our U. S. members.
Known as the Southeastern
Region Meeting of the American Chemical Society, or SERMACS,
the group will host the meeting at the beautiful new Puerto
Rico Convention Center in San Juan. We are already hard
at work arranging for discount room rates at several hotels.
We will be seeking papers
in the areas of Current Trends in Nanotechnology,
Current Interdisciplinary Trends in Organic Chemistry,
Process Technologies in the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry,
Current Trends in Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Education:
Chemical Scholarship via Education, High School Program,
Undergraduate Program, Chemical Modification in Gene Regulation,
Protein Structure and Function, Analytical Chemistry Symposia
and much, much more from our fellow scientists in industry
and academia.
Our students will be
organizing and hosting a program for undergraduates that
will include poster sessions, social events, and opportunities
to interact with the leaders of science.
Also planned is a Presidential
Event with ACS governance and esteemed colleagues from
our neighboring organizations. The following Plenary Speakers
have already confirmed their participation:

Fiesta be without music and celebration! Please join us
for this history-making event! We invite you to present
a paper, chair a symposium, or host a workshop.
We invite companies
and universities to host and/or offer financial support
